Project Atideinu

Project Atideinu (our future)

Throughout this year, the Strategic Planning Council and the Temple Board of Trustees of Temple Shalom have taken the responsibility of developing plans that will affect our congregation for the next five, ten, fifteen years and beyond. We have called this effort Project Atideinu, the Hebrew word for Our Future.

Six Task Forces have been formed, focusing on specific areas identified as the ones of greatest concern to our congregational family. Research will be conducted and information collected to assist us in making important decisions regarding our future.  The task forces are defined as follows:

Alpha Road Facility
The Alpha Road Facility is approaching thirty five years old.  We are examining ways in which we can improve our campus to meet the educational and programming needs of our congregation.

North Location and Pre-School
It is no secret that much of our Jewish population is settling farther to the north of our current location.  This is particularly true of the younger families.  Currently over 30% of our members live north of Highway 190. This Task Force will examine how we can best serve the needs of this growing constituency.

Financial Resources
One of the pillars that stabilize any institution is its financial resources.  Without satisfactory permanent dollars to serve our growing needs and our future, all of our plans will be unrealized.

Naming Rights
Traditionally in temples and synagogues there are opportunities for congregants to honor their families by “buying” naming rights.  This Task Force will examine the proper role and cost for these naming rights as opportunities become available.

Membership Initiative
The efforts of all of our task forces are focused on enriching our membership.  This Task Force will focus on how to address the needs of new members, how to maintain our current membership and how to seek the affiliation of the numerous unaffiliated Jews in the Greater Dallas area.  This group will also delve into our existing dues structure and research alternative methods.

Communications
It will be the mission of the Communications Task Force to report to you, our Congregational Family, the progress of the various Task Forces and to relate the overall timetable for these.

If you would like to share your opinion with a specific task force, or wish to have a question answered, please contact the Chairperson(s) directly, or send an email to comm@templeshalomdallas.com.  The chairs and participants of these committees are listed below.
