Temple Shalom offers numerous opportunities for our members to contribute and join in the activities of the congregation. In addition to Sisterhood and Brotherhood, we encourage you to click on the committees below and participate in all that Temple Shalom has to offer!


Adult Choir

The Adult Choir, a volunteer group, rehearses for the High Holy Days on Tuesday evenings during the summer from 7:00pm-9:00pm.  Throughout the year, the Choir participates in special music Sabbaths, concerts with composers-in-residence and at the community cantors’ concert.

Adult Education

Beautification, Building & Grounds

This committee assesses our beautification needs and makes recommendations and approves and/or selects changes or enhancements to the interior and exterior of Temple Shalom as well as the acceptance of all gifts or donated items to our building. It recommends action for the maintenance of the building and grounds. This committee consults with contractors for various projects for repairs and participates in the bidding process. Budget & Finance

The Temple Shalom Budget Committee is responsible for working with the Temple’s senior staff in the preparation of the budget for all temple revenue and expenses for each temple fiscal year (June 1 – May 31). Budget categories include Administration, Ritual, Programs, Youth Education, Youth Activities, Building and Grounds, and Capital. The Budget Working Group meets from January through March to discuss and prepare a budget that is submitted for approval to the Board of Trustees in April and to the Congregation at the annual meeting in May. Caring Congregation

Cemetery

This committee acts as a liaison between Temple Shalom and Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home and provides Temple members with information related to the purchase of cemetery plots and interments and maintains related records and makes recommendations on plot pricing and cemetery rules. College Connections

We keep in touch with our college students by sending packages for a few times a year along with timely information to help strengthen Jewish identity and a relationship with Temple Shalom. Early Childhood Education

Munchkin Minyan meets monthly on Saturday mornings at 10:30am at Temple Shalom for families with children in 2nd grade and younger to celebrate Shabbat and on Sunday mornings through our Tots Academy program (for which registration is required) for children 2-4 years of age and their parents.  To register your child for Tots Academy or our new Munchkin Music class, contact the Lifelong Learning Office at (972) 661-1362 or email Director of Lifelong Learning Deborah Niederman, RJE.

Golf  Tournament

Lifelong Learning Council

Membership/Belonging Committee

The Belonging Committee plans activities and events and special services that are targeted to a variety of different segments within the Temple Shalom family. The committee also creates programming to welcome and inform new and potential members about our Temple and help all members get to know each other and enjoy being a part of Temple life.

Music Committee

Responsible for supporting several music programs throughout the year. From our Youth Choir, Kol Shalom, recitals to the Composer-in-Residence Biannual program to the DFW Community Cantors’ annual concert, this group enjoys bringing fun, entertaining and spiritual events for the congregation.  If you are interested, please contact Music Coordinator Mandy Monreal

Onegs

Temple Shalom Sisterhood provides an oneg (wine and cheese reception) every Shabbat before services to encourage Temple members and guests to gather and visit with each other. 

Please contact Sisterhood at Sisterhood@templeshalomdallas.org if you would like the opportunity to sponsor or co-sponsor an oneg in order to honor someone special (bar/batmitzvah, birth, wedding, anniversary, graduation) or celebrate one of the simchas in your life.  For information, please see Oneg.

Religious School

Develops programs that inspire an appreciation of and a commitment to Judaism in our children as well as to providing a comfortable environment where our kids can enjoy time with their Jewish peers and friends.  The Religious School curriculum seeks to inspire and support its teachers and programs. Super Seniors

Purpose is to present to members who are 65 or older programs to entertain, inform and provide opportunities to gather together. During the pandemic, we have hosted monthly zoom meetings with speakers and activities. For information, please contact seniors@templeshalomdallas.org.

Tikkun Olam/Social Action Council

Put our faith into action by reaching out to others in our community to make a difference. Through active participation in a variety of projects and programs we will accomplish our goal of Tikkun Olam–Helping to Repair the World as we pursue social justice. Programs include our High Holy Day food drive, our LIFT Education Initiative, monthly cooking and serving for The Stewpot, Israel Connection, Embrace, our Jewish-Muslim-Christian Women’s Fellowship Group, our DAI partnership, our LGBTQ Committee, our Shomrei Adamah committee which investigates ways to become more eco-friendly, educating students and families about our impact on the environment and the intersection of our Jewish values, and more. Worship 

Would you like to provide input about ritual, observance and worship at Temple Shalom? We want to hear from you! Please contact worship@templeshalomdallas.org. This committee provides a forum for open discussion of worship and observance between the clergy and the congregation, serving as a conduit for congregant commentary and implementing specific tasks with relation to ritual, observance and worship.

Youth Choir

Kol Shalom Youth Choir is for grades 2-8. Rehearsals are on Sundays after Religious School from 12:30pm-1:30pm. If you are interested in your child joining youth choir, please contact Music Coordinator Mandy Monreal or complete the Kol Shalom registration form.
